In addition to this now my headphones don't work. When I run a test they get the sound but when I plug them in it doesn't cut off audio from my speakers like it used to and play them through the headphones. I get no sound besides test sounds. UGH

If you use realtek drivers, I found this and installed it. I now have sound!

Like the rest of the people i have sound issues after the beginning movie. I've read most of the thread and tried several of the options. I use Vista 32 bit and surprised not to see the capability tab when Right clicking my shortcut icon to "properties" the tab just is not there. tried the sound for showing hidden objects but i have don't have the "mix stereo" option. I have DirectX10 currently on this computer. Eyes strained after reading all the strain so i stopped after a certain point hoping someone might add on to this. I know this has been addressed before sorry for the repeats.

As for the compatability tab goes, which version of Vista are you using? I think some versions did not have that feature included. I will do a little research.

Thanks for the respond but i figured out the problem. Had to update my driver for my sound and than "mix stereo" was available in the sound tab. Have sound and I am having a blast with this game.

Only issue after getting sound to work is that I cannot start the game from the shortcut icon or any executable files, have to open the disc tray and close it each time in order to play it. this is minor but if anyone ever gets this same issue just hope it isn't something to big.

Been a couple days now since I've been playing Bioshock with a new problem. no executable files will start it up, also taking the game in and out of the computer is no longer working. I get up to the play screen click "play" disappears and nothing else appears. I suggest if this isn't fixed Bioshock 2 might have this same issue if not resolved.

if anyone is following this I uninstalled the game and tried to reinstall it. Installation was fine till the patch for Bioshock. After the download a message would pop up saying installation failed since the patch was corrupted. don't know if this falls under a corrupted game or not.

That is odd, however I have not played the game since about 2 months after it came out. Never heard of this issue before. Have you tried to contact 2K tech support?
