Assassin's Creed 2 Announced

Ubisoft announced that Ubisoft Montreal is developing Assassin's Creed II on all current-generation platforms for a scheduled Holiday 2009 release. The initial installment of Assassin's Creed was released in November 2007 to popular and critical success, selling 8 million copies worldwide and garnering awards such as Best Action Game 2007 from 1UP and Outstanding Achievement in Animation from the AIAS.

Much has been said about Bioshock being an outstanding game. Upon release, it was even heralded as a strong candidate for Game of the Year. If one were to believe the hype, we should all run out and buy a copy of the game. Is Bioshock really that wonderful, however? With gamers financially strapped, this year, many of them are hesitant to spend their hard-earned cash on a game unless they're pretty sure it's a good buy, and who can blame them?

Diablo III Announced

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today revealed Diablo III, the newest entry in its critically acclaimed action role-playing-game franchise. The announcement was made during the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational at the Porte de Versailles Convention Centre in Paris, France. A cinematic trailer and an extended gameplay demonstration with commentary from the development team introduced the game to the thousands of players in attendance.

“We’ve wanted to expand on the epic story and gameplay elements of the Diablo universe for some time now,” stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We know that players have also been long awaiting a return to the series, so we’re very excited to be sharing this announcement with Blizzard gamers here in Paris and around the world today.”

Turok Announced For PC

Touchstone sent us word today on a new Turok game for the PC.

Turok, the epic, sci-fi first person shooter, will be released in Spring 2008 for Windows PC, Touchstone announced today. Touchstone previously announced that Turok, one of next year’s most anticipated games, will be available for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Developed by Propaganda Games, Turok for consoles will be available at retail stores on February 5, 2008.

Penny Arcade's Child's Play Charity Begins For 2007

Penny Arcade has kicked off their annual Child's Play charity event today. Don't know what that is? Know tha it is a great cause supported not only by myself, but millions of other gamers like you around the world.

Since 2003, over 100,000 gamers worldwide have banded together through Child's Play, a community based charity grown and nurtured from the game culture and industry. Over two million dollars in donations of toys, games, books and cash for sick kids in children's hospitals across North America and the world have been collected since our inception.

LucasArts and Bioware Team-up

LucasArts and BioWare Corp. today announced that they have entered into an agreement to create an interactive entertainment product. The product, details of which will be unveiled at a later date, will be developed and published by BioWare and LucasArts, and will push the boundaries of the gaming market by utilizing the strengths of both companies to deliver an innovative, high-quality experience.

“LucasArts has a deep commitment to developing compelling stories and characters for the unique medium of interactive entertainment, and we have been searching for a developer that shares this value. We found this in BioWare,” said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. “Through our previous collaborations, we know that BioWare has an impressive ability to blend gripping stories with technological advancements, and we believe that our upcoming product will deliver an experience that will span the traditional boundaries of video game entertainment."
